OBTAINING A CERTIFICATE

The 2.4mR Class is a development class granted international status in 1993. The 2.4mR Class is administered by Member National Authorities (MNAs) under delegation by World Sailing (WS). Where there is no MNA the International Class Association (ICA) may carry out administrative functions. The Certification Authority (CA) is either the MNA, the NCA or the ICA

INTERNATIONAL 2.4mR CLASS: All 2.4mR boats are required to have a valid Certificate to be eligible for racing, refer 2.4mR Class Rules B.1.1 Certificate. 

1 - Builder to obtain WS plaque.

2 - Official Measurer to measure boat and sign declaration on Measurement Form.

3 - Official Measurer to issue Measurement Form to Certification Authority.

4 - Certification Authority issues Certificate.

2.4 NORLIN ONE DESIGN CLASS (NOD): The NOD Class is a restricted class based on the Norlin Mark III introduced in 2011. The NOD Class hulls and rudders are manufacturer controlled with rigs measurement controlled. The NOD Class is administered by the ICA

1 - Owner to obtain 2.4mR Certificate (refer above)

2 - Licensed Builder to obtain NOD Class sticker.

3 - Official Measurer to measure boat and sign declaration on Measurement Form.

4 - Official Measurer to issue Measurement Form to ICA NOD Certification Administrator.

5 - ICA NOD Certification Administrator issues Certificate.

BUOYANCY: All 2.4mR boats are required to have a valid buoyancy certificate, refer to 2.4mR Class Rule A.15 BUOYANCY CERTIFICATE. Please note that this is a fundamental safety requirement and that it expires after 5 years. 

1 - Official Measurer or ICA assigned Buoyancy Certifier to check buoyancy and sign declaration on Buoyancy Certificate.

2 - Official Measurer or ICA assigned Buoyancy Certifier to issue Buoyancy Certificate to Certification Authority.

3 - Certification Authority issues Certificate.

*NOTE: A certificate becomes invalid upon a change of ownership or a boat ceasing to comply with its certificate.

1 - If you need a copy of a boat 2.4mR Class Certificate or Buoyancy Certificate please contact your country MNA or NCA.
