Grand Prix 2.4mR class in Czech Republic

Grand Prix start to be a traditional regatta held each year in the end of September after the regatta at Chiemsee. Its was a pity that this year was the number of participants affected by an other event. From our point of view was the Grand Prix at Macha Lake organized by the Yacht Club Stare Splavy a big success . We had 16 sailors from 4 countries.

The weather conditions at Macha Lake were very calm, with weak winds, from different directions. Nevertheless the race committee was able to provide 3 races- 2 on the first day, one the second day, third day no race. While no racing we had the chance to use the nice facility of the club and enjoy the nice warm sunny days.

The first day Christian Bodler (GER) shows how to sail in tricky winds and take in both races the first place, followed by Ulli Libor (GER) on places 6 and 2. Christian Bittner (GER), coach of the sailors at Chiemsee took places 3 and 4. The second day attacked Karin Hofmann (GER) the two leaders with her place 1, while leader Christian Bodler took place 3 and Ulli place 2. But as mentioned third day was no wind, so the final results were taken from the three races.

A nice surprise was the 5th place take by new comer with his own boat Jan Melika (CZE).

At he closing ceremony and price giving we had again a unexpected surprise, when Ulli Libor hand over to Michaela Švejdova (CZE) a high-quality jib.

Honored were the first 3 + 3 sailors and all participants get a small gift.

At the end we had to hand over also a Challenge Cup. The Idea of a Challenge cup was discussed already 3-4 years ago, to attract the sailors from Italy to take part in regatta´s in Austria, Germany and Czech Republic. Rating is simple: you have to sail at least one regatta in all this 4 countries, the best ones are counted. Last years was this Challenge Cup not present because of Covid-19. For this year was the receiver of the Challenge Cup Christian Bodler from SCPC at Chiemsee.
